Hey Everyone, it's Thursday again and we had storytime today! You should have seen all the kids coming in, all ready for some great stories!
Today was all about "back to school" stories, so we started with "The Wheels on the School Bus" by Mary-Alice Moore, and learned all about the teachers, kids, coaches, and lunch ladies on the bus. Then we sang the song "The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round". After thatwe read "Don't be Silly, Mrs. Millie!" by Judy Cox. Mrs. Millie uses all kinds of silly words like 'gorilla cheese sandwich' and 'hang up your goats'. The last one we read was "Kindergarten Rocks!" by Katie Davis, where Dexter learns to like kindergarten.
Then we made these cute little bears to wear on a string like a necklace. Everyone had a really good time. I'll put up a picture as soon as Miss Joy gives me one.

Hi Dewey! I've never met a reading and writing guinea pig before, but as a children's author, I can certainly imagine one. I'm Katie Davis, and I'm so happy you read my book, Kindergarten Rocks! to the children who came to visit you. I read that you like to nibble fingers - instead of that, why don't you put some of my activity pages in the children's hands? Tell the nice librarians who clean your cage -- you DO have a cage, right? Considering you read and write, who knows? -- to download some fun games from my website. Hope to see you next time I'm in Texas! Love, Katie

Hi Miss Katie,
Yes, I do have a cage, but these days it's more to save me from the kids than the other way around. I'm starting to get a bit more mellow as I get older...so I don't bite as much as I used to. We will for sure print some of the activity pages from your site and give them out to the kids.
Thanks for writing, and it would be great to have you come out to our library the next time you're in Texas!
Thanks,
Dewey
